Privacy Policy

This is a translation for convenience. The German version is legally binding.

1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Luca Matteo Špoljarević
c/o IP-Management #12320
Ludwig-Erhard-Straße 18

2. Summary

This is a purely static, personal website. There are no user accounts, no contact forms, no newsletter, no analytics or tracking tools, no advertising, and this website sets no cookies (for embedded content, see section 5). Fonts and scripts are not loaded from third-party servers.

3. Hosting

This website is served by Codeberg Pages, provided by Codeberg e. V., Arminiusstraße 2 - 4, 10551 Berlin, Germany.

When you visit the website, the host processes technical data that your browser sends automatically:

  • IP address
  • date and time of access
  • requested page or file
  • referrer URL (the page you came from)
  • browser and operating system

This data is needed to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable (e.g. to fend off attacks). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website. According to Codeberg, IP addresses are truncated in log files and technical metadata is kept for no longer than 7 days. See Codeberg’s privacy policy for details.

4. Local storage (light/dark mode)

If you switch between the light and dark theme using the toggle in the top right corner, this setting is stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage) under the key theme, so it is kept for your next visit. This information never leaves your device and is not sent to us or to third parties.

It is only stored after you actively use the toggle and is strictly necessary for the feature you requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

5. Embedded chess games (Lichess)

The Chess 2026 page can show chess games from lichess.org, provided by Lichess.org, an association under French law, 350 Chemin du Pré Neuf, 38350 La Mure, France.

The games are only loaded after you click “Load games from lichess.org”. Before that, no connection to Lichess is made. After the click, your browser connects directly to Lichess’s servers, which receive in particular your IP address, browser information and the fact that you opened this page. Lichess may also set its own cookies. We have no influence on how Lichess processes this data afterwards.

The legal basis is your consent given by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). Your consent only applies to the current page view and is not stored; on your next visit, the games are again only loaded after a click. The data is processed within the EU. See Lichess’s privacy policy for details.

6. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process your email address and the content of your message in order to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR or, if your request relates to a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. The data is deleted once it is no longer needed for this purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

This website contains links to external services (e.g. Codeberg, Mastodon, my blog or my donation page). Data is only sent to the respective provider when you click such a link; their privacy policy then applies.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right at any time to:

  • access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • rectification of incorrect data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • withdraw any consent you have given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
  • object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR)

To do so, simply contact the email address above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement.
